Cars have weight and while they can be a bit boatlike it beats the hell out of what feels like zero gravity trains going on rails you find in Sleeping Dogs, Saints Row and the like. A lot more fun though.Ĭompared to every other open world game with driving GTA IV, especially when modded, is far superior. Then you see why they were so slow originally: due to the scale of the city when the cars are much faster it's quite easy to constantly crash and it doesn't take that long to drive around. When modded you can drift, burn rubber etc and drive really really fast.
I imagine that V would at least use the same system but perhaps they've just redefined the values. There are plenty of parameters that define the suspension, acceleration etc.
GTA IV cars in stock form were way too slow and easy to drive but the engine underneath is pretty solid.
